Getting ready for New Year

I could not remember when the thought was hatched but Rose Parade was something that I had wanted to see. And so did my father-in-law. When I suggested that we all go, they said "Okay."
I thought that it was just a non committal "Okay" but then he started emailing me links to the parade. So I got the ball rolling.
I actually enjoy trying to find ways to save money and it gives me great anxiety to know when I could have saved money and I didn't.
I booked a house at Airbnb. It was a few blocks form the parade route. The tickets I got directly from the Tournament of Rose Parade site.
The part that gave me most anxiety was buying the airline tickets. I found a great price for $418 round trip non-stop to Los Angeles, only to see it go up $100 in 3 days. Frustrating. I had bought the tickets at a much higher price but I am afraid that it may go down after this weekend. We'll see.
Update:
Much to my dismay, I realized that I had booked Xavier's ticket at full price instead of a child's ticket. I am kicking myself in the ass right now. I called up United and I admitted my mistake. The woman on the other end of the line was less than sympathetic. No partial refund for me. I called back hoping I can speak with another person who might be able to help me. This time I not be forthcoming with that little fact  about my oversight. I am on hold for 11 minutes (and counting...) Let see.
