Inert
I was listening to the radio last week and heard the guest explain why he thought some people would win and lose the Oscars. The details of the broadcast is but a vague memory to me now but one word stood out to me: Inert. Until that time, the word inert was just a description I have heard used in the context of chemistry (as in Helium is an inert gas). I understood it as stable. I have not heard it used to describe a person acting ability. So I made a mental note to look it up. Fast forward to today and after I have consulted my favorite website www.dictionary.com I have learned that being inert means having no inherent power for motion, action or resistance. Like "I am so tired I am inert."
